Responsibilities for Medical Coder
- Assign codes to diagnoses and procedures using ICD and CPT codes
- Ensure codes are accurate and sequenced correctly in accordance with guidelines
- Communicate with other team regarding documentation
- Review patient charts and documents for accuracy
- Review the patient notes for evaluation and coding
- Ensure that all codes are current and active
QUALIFICATIONSÂ
- Any degree with successful completion of Medical coding certification program
- Strong knowledge of anatomy, physiology and medical terminology
- Excellent typing skills with speed and accuracy
- Commitment to a high level of customer service
- Strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to work independently
