The ministry of finance plans to come up with lottery scheme to lure consumers to pay GST (Goods and Service Tax).
This scheme is similar as the scheme introduced by Delhi government to reward consumer for paying VAT (value added tax), named “Bill Banao, inaam pao” in 2015.
This scheme requires consumer to take copy of bill, after paying GST for the business to consumer (B2C) transaction. This will be uploaded on the application, which will be introduced later.

This application will auto-capture the phone number, bill number and GST number of the trader. From this details, winner will be selected.
The monthly reward given through lottery will be high and will be given from consumer welfare fund.
The minimum threshold limit for participation will be decided later and will exclude water and electricity bills.
Lottery scheme will help to track whether the collected GST has been deposited with the government through which tax leakage will be detected and compliance will be improved.
