Job description
The QC Chemist is responsible for testing and analyzing raw materials, in-process samples, and finished products to ensure they meet the required quality standards. The role requires collaboration with the production and quality assurance teams to maintain compliance with regulatory requirements and internal quality systems. The QC Chemist must follow standard operating procedures (SOPs), good manufacturing practices (GMP), and laboratory safety guidelines.
Key Responsibilities:
Sample Collection and Testing:
Perform routine and non-routine analysis of raw materials, in-process, and finished products.
Conduct chemical and physical testing using laboratory instruments (e.g., HPLC, GC, FTIR, UV-Vis, etc.).
Ensure timely collection of samples from production batches and monitor the production process for quality control.
Documentation:
Record all analytical data accurately and maintain detailed laboratory notebooks.
Ensure proper documentation of results in compliance with regulatory standards such as cGMP, FDA, and ISO.
Prepare certificates of analysis (COA) for final products.
Compliance and Safety:
Adhere to all safety and laboratory practices in compliance with health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
Ensure that equipment is maintained and calibrated according to schedule.
Identify and report any deviations from specifications or SOPs, and assist in corrective and preventive actions (CAPA).
Troubleshooting and Investigations:
Investigate and resolve any analytical or process-related issues that may arise during production.
Assist in root cause analysis in case of quality deviations or product failures.
Collaboration with Production:
Work closely with the production team to provide real-time feedback on process quality.
Support production in optimizing processes and improving product quality.
Regulatory Compliance:
Ensure that products comply with applicable national and international regulatory requirements.
Assist in audits and inspections by regulatory bodies, and participate in internal and external audits.
Continuous Improvement:
Participate in continuous improvement initiatives related to product quality and laboratory processes.
Assist in the development and validation of new analytical methods and techniques.
