Ranjana Jha, Chief Commissioner of Customs (preventive) visited Ludhiana to interact with local city based exporters and importers in order to understand the problems being faced by them.
While interacting with exporters, most of them mentioned about the difficulty related to IGST refunds.
They were facing problems due to the integrated GST (IGST) refunds and concerned about the blocking of working capital of micro small and medium enterprises (MSME).
While addressing to the grievances of the taxpayers, Jha said, “The IGST refunds of around 50 exporters had been withheld because of pending verification. This comprises of only 2 percent of the total number of exporters at Ludhiana.”
It was clarified that the refund problem is not only in Ludhiana Commissionerate alone but also was being faced at major ports of export all over India as the verification for IGST refunds was essential as it was generated by the system based on risk parameters.
However, she said positively that they should not worry as the matter would be taken up at the highest level and a solution to the problem would be worked out soon.
Jha has asked businessmen to come out with suggestion and feedback about the ongoing schemes and policies of customs department.
